About the Darug People
The Darug people are the Traditional Custodians of the lands where Penrith is located. Their rich cultural heritage spans tens of thousands of years, with deep spiritual connections to the land, waterways, and natural environment of the Greater Western Sydney region.
The Darug people have maintained their cultural practices, knowledge systems, and connection to Country despite the challenges of colonisation. Today, they continue to play an important role in the preservation and sharing of Aboriginal culture and heritage in the region.
